October 5th: Favorite Companion
Well, for starters, I think Rose Tyler deserves an honorable mention, and I’m just going to leave it at that. If I get started on how much I’ve come to love her in addition to all the other things I have to say, this will be the post that never ends.
So without further ado, my favorite companion is unequivocally
Seriously, this woman. Where to begin? If there’s one companion I absolutely consider worth being a role model, she is it. In fact, she makes my top list of fictional characters I’d invite to lunch just to bask in the glory of their reflected awesomeness.
She was so strong and sassy without that being all there was to her; instead, she was shouting at the world because she wrongly believed she wasn’t good enough for it.
Not only that, but she was the first companion in New Who, to that point, not to start out in the Doctor’s shadow: she recognized from the start that he was not perfect, that sometimes he needed someone there to save him as much as anyone else did. She understood him, who he was, what his shortcomings were, what he needed from her, better than anyone else.
She was there for him when times were toughest and he needed someone to lean on
yet still didn’t take any nonsense off of him
or anyone else
and I can really get behind that. I just love their whole relationship.
And can we just talk about how she was the first companion in the new series who got TARDIS driving lessons?
Just the way she would actually come out and say the things that needed to be said, her sheer intuition (“You talk all the time, but you don’t say anything.” ”Is ‘all right’ special Time Lord code for ‘really not all right at all’?”) made me want to hug her through the screen and just tell her
even though she never believed it when someone else did.
There are really not enough gifs and pictures on the Internet to cover all my favorite Donna moments, so I’m just going to finish up with the link to this amazing fan video (warning: the sass levels on this thing are approaching overload)
and call it a day.
Donna Noble, dear, we had the best of times. We will live in the light and sing your song across the stars, because you’re part of the reason they are still out there in our sky. We will never forget you, while you can never remember. To us, you are still the most important woman.

On those rare occasions when current and past stars of Doctor Who filmed episodes together the air has sometimes turned a tad chilly. But “Tenth Doctor” David Tennant says there were no such problems when, earlier this year, he and his TARDIS successor Matt Smith shot this November’s special 50th anniversary show.
“I suppose you’d expect me to say we’re new best friends and I love him like a brother,” the Scottish actor tells EW. “But that is sort of how it was. I had a fantastic time and that wouldn’t necessarily have been the case. I’m coming back onto a show that’s effectively somebody else’s show and used to be mine and that’s potentially quite a weird situation to be in.”

My aunt knitted me the 4th Doctor’s scarf and I just….I want to wear it everywhere I go, but wearing a 12 foot scarf in the summer time in Virginia isn’t probably a wise decision…
…Doesn’t mean I won’t. It just probably isn’t my best decision…
